Suspension recommendations

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum and am looking for some help. I’m the original owner of an ‘04 YFZ 450, and it’s in pristine condition. I bought it when I was still in the military, and I was 5’11”/220 lbs and was quite a horse. Due to time and injuries, I’m now 5’7”/160 lbs and the stock suspension is too stiff for me. I no longer ride too aggressively and am looking to completely update both the front and rear suspensions. With a budget of <$2,000, what brand of a-arms/shocks/etc would you recommend and from what vendors?

I love my YFZ and get so many compliments on it wherever I ride. I’m now retired and plan to ride it much more after the suspension’s updated, so I’m looking forward to your replies!

Steve

Best bang for your budget is revalving your stock shocks or going Elka Stage 2. You’ll notice more improvement from proper spring rates and valving for your current weight than from swapping A-arms or chasing brand names.
