I've got a 2023 YRZ 450 SE and I'm planning to add a full exhaust system, intake, and a power commander. I've been told removing the AIS helps stop the popping sound when letting off the throttle. If I delete the AIS, will the power commander handle any check engine lights that pop up?

Deleting the AIS on your 2023 YZ450F se can help cut down the popping on decel, and it wont cause a check engine light since the AIS isn't monitored by the ECU. The power commander wont clear check engine lights anyway, it just handles fuel tuning. So youre good to go as long as your map matches your setup

I've read somewhere that it can pop up a cal on newer models and yours is 2023, so there's a risk, so why not play it safe with an AIS block-off kit? With that said, you might want to check the laws in your state because it may not be emissions compliant. Don't rush before you double check everything.

The ECU might still throw a code for the missing AIS unless you use block off plates and possibly a resistor or a plug in dongle depending on the setup.
But if you're set on using the PC, just make sure you properly disable or trick the AIS circuit to avoid an annoying CEL.

It seems you're thinking of a different systems sine the YFZ's AIS is a purely mechanical system without any electronic sensors tied to it.
A block-off plate is just a cleaner way to cap the port where the valve was and is what most people use.
It's not about playing it safe, it's just a neater install.
As for emissions, yeah, technically any mod to the exhaust is an issue, but for a closed-course vehicle like a YFZ, it's a non-issue unless you live somewhere with really strict off-road vehicle laws.
