suitable plastics for R6

I couldn't find a clear answer, so I'm looking for confirmation on which year ranges have interchangeable full plastic sets for the yfz R6. From my research, it seems 2012–2018 plastics are compatible across those years, but I'd like to verify.
A friend of mine has a 2017 and a 2016 and need new plastics for both. Can anyone confirm which years fit each model?

From what I've seen, the 2012–2018 yfz r6 plastics should be interchangeable, but it's always good to double check specific mounting points, especially with minor design tweaks Yamaha might have made. The 2016 and 2017 models should be able to swap plastics without an issue since they fall within that range.

Just like what @onlyneatwhiskey said, yep they're interchangeable. if you can find a diagram to help you fit it, i think that will work

I'm pretty sure that they're all interchangeable. I think the comments would agree too. Just watch a YT tutorial or something if you're not sure.

Yeah yeah, I agree, should be a direct match, no mods needed but the set you're buying shouldn't be for the 2008 to 2011 or 2019+ models, those had different designs and won't line up right without cutting or bracket tweaks

Last year, I helped my buddy get his crashed 2014 R6 back on the road, and let me tell you, what a ride that was. We snagged some plastics from a 2017 parts bike, and they fit like they were made for it. At first, we were a bit nervous about those little bracket changes, but everything just fell into place seamlessly. Honestly, as long as you stick to the parts from 2012 to 2018, you should be in great shape. Just dive in and enjoy the journey

I'm sure that 2006-2016 R6 plastics are fully interchangeable. So, your friend's 2016 R6 definitely fits any plastic from '06-'16. However, the 2017 R6 was a major redesign, so its plastics (2017-2020) are only compatible within that newer generation. You can't mix 'em

Did you have to tweak any mounting points or was it all plug-and-play? Also did you notice any fitment differences between the 2014 and 2017 plastics, like around the tank or tail section?
