Suspension upgrade

I ride a 2016 YFZ450R and the stock suspension feels too hard and bumpy, especially on rough trails and long rides. I want to upgrade it to make the ride smoother and easier to handle, but I don't need anything super fancy like race parts.

Can anyone suggest good shocks or setups for trail riding? Thanks!

I suggest you look into a set of Elka Stage 1s or a good used set of Fox Evol shocks.
The Elkas are a huge improvement over stock and you can get them set up for your weight and riding style.
If you can find a used set of the Fox shocks off a newer Raptor or YFZ, they are a solid option too and can be revalved to your specs.
A lot of guys also send their stock shocks to a good suspension tuner like G-Force or PEP for a revalve and springs.
That's a way cheaper option than new shocks and makes a world of difference.

Most YFZ450R owners overcomplicate suspension upgrades...stock shocks with a proper re-valve and spring adjustment are usually enough for trail riding, and spending big on aftermarket shocks often yields minimal real-world improvement

Hey @burntbud56, for trail riding it would be good to start with a revalve and springs on the stock shocks. It’s cheaper than new shocks and usually makes a huge difference in comfort.
